umm

You can probably tell, but I'm really lost for things to say at the moment. I've been busy working on this website, and that's about it really. Oh, apart from pining for a cat. It's the strangest thing. I've never really wanted one before. I've never owned one before. I'm more of a dog person (if someone was to ask), but this week I'm desperate to get a cat. Maybe it has something to do with finding the baby last week, having a small but potent taste of taking care of someone, I want more. I guess you could say I'm clucky, but for fur, more purry I suppose.

It all started with an article from the Cat Protection Society in the paper about Casey, a friendly confident cat who needs a new home. Then I went to the website to look at others. There was Precious who's previous owner had Alzheimer's and was unable to care for him. Jinx’s family had a new baby and got rid of him. Louie’s humans moved into a unit where cats were not permitted. Maggie’s owners were moving overseas and could not take her with them. Sebastian was being harassed by the children in his home. Star came to CPS as a stray with kittens. Oooo, it was all too much.

Now I'm worried of I go there I'll come home with all of them.

In the meantime we've kind of adopted an imaginary Casey. As I sit down on the couch with a cup of tea I call out for Casey to come sit with me. When I go out to the back garden I hold the door open a little longer to give fake-Casey time to get through. When I hear a noise I call out "Casey is that you?"

Mr You is a cat person. Infact I've often wondered if he is the king of the cat people; when we go for a walk ALL the neighbourhood cats come running to him, kneel at his feet, and roll around for a smooch. So he has been silently beaming this week since I've seemingly come around to the idea of having one. As we sit on the couch with our cup of tea watching fake-Casey stretch, we've been chatting. I 've been asking a billion questions: I know you can't punish cats and teach them like dogs, but what happens if they start walking all over the kitchen bench? Can you teach them not to claw at the sides of the lounge? Will we need to leave a window open all the time so they can go to the toilet outside, or do you have kitty-litter inside? If we get an older cat will they miss their old owner too much and poo on our furinture to show us that they don't like us as much? How can we stop them wanting to eat the parrots in the garden?

Anyway, as the questions keep coming, I'm going to wait it out for a week, just to make sure this urge is not just a fleeting hormonal phase. Then I think we plan to go talk to the real-estate agent to see if the line about "no pets" in the lease contract is set in concrete.

Now, if you please excuse me, I think fake-Casey is hungry for some breakfast. Do cats like museli?

We adopted our Sloopy (black kitty) when she was 6 years. She had been passed around between friends of ours and was unhappily living with 4 other cats at her last home- not getting the attention she deserved. She's 13 years old now, not quite the spry kitty she once was, but she is happy. It was pretty easy to train her to not get on the counter tops. The furniture- I've given up on trying to keep her from destroying it. I have two boys who don't help matter much (jumping and spilling). I figure when Sloopy is gone to kitty heaven and the boys are older I'll finally have nice unclawed and unstained furniture.

LOL - I love your imaginary cat Casey. How cute; you guys crack me up! I can't offer you any cat wisdom since I am terribly allergic to them and hubby has a abnormal level of disdain for all cats. But they always look so fluffy and cuddly, especially the kittens.
Before I got pregnant I pined away for a puppy pug or terrier for over 2 years. Not sure why we never followed through and got one, but I'm sure my desire to get one was my biological clock and maternal horomones kicking in. So, better get your cat soon or you may find yourself wanting a baby instead! ha ha :)

Casey, the imaginary cat, that's so funny! That's one way to make sure you're 'into it'.
I had a cat all my life, still love cats to death but developed an over exposure allergy to the protien in their saliva. I don't even have to touch one, just be in a room with one and I am having an asthma attack. I miss my kitties.
Now I fill the void with my muttly and loving dog Piper.
My dogs birthday is exactly one year to the day before my daughters birthday... coincidence???

i had a thing for cats..kittens.. whenever i would see a "free kittens" sign- i would get one. whenever i would take a look at the shelter, i would come home with one. We had indoor cats and outdoor cats..the outdoor ones were just as loving and friendly as the indoor ones. Now i have a dog, which is both challenging and completely infectious.. my boyfriend is allergic to cats- i would have one ( or 2) if he wasn't.

Is Casey a tabby?
Tabby's tend to eat the strangest things.
We adopted brother cats from the same litter. There was no way I could say 'no' to my husband's pleading eyes.
Willie and Oliver have now 7 years old, I think? and have travelled all over the u.s. and to europe with us. They are still frisky, funny and loving and it's wonderful to watch them play together. Nothing like having a kitty curl up next to you and purr while reading a book.

i'm definitely a cat person and i love our little one. my husband is out a lot at night for work so it's always nice to have another living thing in the house. plus mine's a snuggler so it's great. can't stop her from going on the table though and i hate that!

I want a cat because in interior decorating magazines and 70s craft books they always make the room/shot look so much better lying or prowling around. I think a cat would look good sleeping on one of our beds or the couch. That's not really a good reason to get a cat, is it! But you sound like you might have some good reasons.
I loved the baby story. You were definately meant to be there.

Hey flossy, if you're wondering where fake Casey is he must have got out and showed up at our front door. I've sent him home. I immensely understand the need for an animal, dog or cat (refer to recent posts on myd. It's really hard to walk away from the animal shelter petless. I only wish i could have taken more with me when i got scout. All I have to say is the benefits of pet ownership far out way the drawbacks. In the meantime, imaginary friends work quite nicely! xo! PS- I can't believe you found a baby!! What street was that again...?
